Industrial Floor Screeds: How to Stop Dusting and Achieve Abrasion Resistance That Outlasts Forklifts
Warehouse floors face relentless abuse: forklift wheels, pallet drops, and constant foot traffic. A dusty, abraded floor is not just ugly — it damages machinery, contaminates goods, and creates safety hazards. Our VAE RDP and low-viscosity HPMC combination builds a dense, wear-resistant surface that stays hard for years.
Why Floors Abrade and Dust
- High water/cement ratio: To get flowable screeds, installers add water. This creates a porous, weak top layer that wears away as dust.
- Lack of polymer reinforcement: Unmodified cement is brittle and has poor abrasion resistance. Under point loads, micro-cracks form and grow.
- Surface laitance: Bleeding water brings fine cement to the surface, forming a weak skin.
The Hard-Floor Formula
1. HPMC 800–1500 mPa·s for Low Water Demand and Self-Leveling
Our ultra-low viscosity HPMC allows flowable consistency at a w/c ratio as low as 0.30. Less water means higher density, higher compressive strength, and no bleeding laitance.
- Flow diameter (DIN 12706): >140 mm at 0.07% dosage
- 28-day compressive strength: >45 MPa
2. VAE RDP at 2.5–3.5% for Surface Toughness
The polymer film coats cement particles and aggregates, creating a continuous, impact-resistant matrix. In Taber abrasion tests, our system shows 60% less mass loss than unmodified screeds.
- Abrasion resistance (Böhme): <4 cm³/50 cm²
- Impact resistance: No cracking at 4 Joule hard-body impact
Industrial Performance
A logistics center in Germany used our screed system in high-traffic aisles. After 3 years, abrasion was barely measurable. The previous unmodified floor had required resurfacing after 18 months. Maintenance costs dropped drastically.
Let your floor stand up to the traffic, not become part of it.
